Kentucky should be #2 seed in the South. This is how it has always worked the top 2 seed gets their preference of region. If they get sent West the committee is penalizing them they do not want to go out West. You must know something everyone else don't because just about everyone has Kentucky in the South as of today.

As far as North Carolina shipped West last year they couldn't be in the South since Virginia was there. The committee shipping them West over putting them in the East screwed them over as they lost in the 2nd round. It was an injustice to put Carolina in the West as the #5 overall last year and if they do that to Kentucky there will be hell to pay from Big Blue Nation.

In the UNC case last year, they specifically cited that if they put UNC in the east instead of the west, the end result was a very imbalanced west regional, with nothing but the worst team on each seed line put in the west. They put UNC out there to balance the region.

I ran into the same thing today with Kentucky, this was my original run below. I don't think they'd let the west go with a 38 seed total, that's too high. And as we saw last year, they'll use the team in the #5 overall spot as a balancer.

And yeah, if I ranked UNC 5th and Kentucky 6th....Kentucky would be in the south. Getting seeded higher would screw them over. But Kentucky fans are rational, so I'm sure they'll understand.

It's all moot because I'm moving Kentucky to the 1 line on Monday, albeit in the midwest probably.

UNC could have been in the East or Midwest. They were ranked #5 by the committee.

"The committee shipping them West over putting them in the East screwed them over as they lost in the 2nd round."

No it didn't. The first weekend is played at different sites. Carolina played (and lost to Texas A&M) in Charlotte, so it was as close to home as they could get.

"It was an injustice to put Carolina in the West as the #5 overall last year and if they do that to Kentucky there will be hell to pay from Big Blue Nation."

I don't think the committee cares much about fanbase anger. They can and do try to balance the brackets though, so Andrew is right the #5 team could get shipped West for the second weekend.
