Impact result of the day:
Arkansas 79, @Georgia 75 - Arkansas acted like a tournament team, going on the road and grabbing a win against a reasonably competent opponent. Feeling more sold about them as SEC #2 right now.
Other games of note:
@Kentucky 89, Ole Miss 86 (OT) - more interesting is Ole Miss. Are they really this good? I doubt it, but we'll see
Michigan 73, @Penn St 64 - and everyone who thought PSU was good now feels silly. Michigan, maybe not dead yet
Villanova 90, @St John's 72 - a useful road chip for 'Nova. St John's is now 0-3 in the BE...I still think they'll be fine, but they probably shouldn't wait to start amassing some good wins for the committee to look at
Ohio St 74, @Minnesota 72 (OT) - important for OSU to get one on the board here. Minny...0-3 in the B1G, look at the St John's comment
Providence 66, @Butler 62 - this is the type of win that inches you ahead of the bubble teams in a conference
Holding serve:
@Cincinnati 69, East Carolina 48
@Georgetown 65, Marquette 59
UConn 58, @South Florida 44
@George Washington 75, St Louis 72
@Iowa St 63, Oklahoma St 61 - man this conference is brutal
Pittsburgh 61, @Boston College 60 (OT)
@San Diego St 56, New Mexico 42
Quick-hitters:
@Iona 81, Quinnipiac 73
Central Michigan 65, @Toledo 62 - and there goes the preseason MAC favorites. What's up with CMU? 11-1 record, but with 3 non D-1s mixed in, a catastrophic loss (albeit on the road), one good road win at Northwestern, and a non-con SoS hovering in the 340s. I have no idea what to do with this team
@Akron 72, Western Michigan 52 - the entire MAC deserves a lengthy breakdown; several teams figure to hover in the 75-125 range and I expect a lot of beating up on each other in conference play. I think I trust Akron more than most, but it's still wide open
@Florida St 86, Virginia Tech 75
@Vanderbilt 64, Auburn 52
@Alabama 65, Texas A&M 44
@St Mary's 78, Morgan St 52
