Western Athletic conference tournament preview

This is part 30 of a 33-part series in this blog, designed to give you all the information you need to know about each conference's tournament, and the postseason prospects of every single team in the conference.

Final standings:
New Mexico St 13-1
Grand Canyon 8-6
UMKC 8-6
Seattle 7-7
Cal St-Bakersfield 7-7
Utah Valley 5-9
Chicago St 4-10
Texas-Pan American 4-10

Conference tournament format:  Thursday March 12 to Saturday March 14.  Grand Canyon is not eligible as they're still doing the D1 transition thing.

Bracket:
1) New Mexico St
4) Cal St-Bakersfield vs. 5) Utah Valley
2) UMKC vs. 7) Texas-Pan American
3) Seattle vs. 6) Chicago St

The stakes:
This is going to be the shortest conference breakdown ever.

The WAC is terrible, 3rd worst, and it dragged NMSU down with it.  NMSU did schedule up, but also did horribly against that schedule.  They could escape to the 15 line with enough upsets in other conferences.  Everyone else is an instant candidate for the 68th overall seed.

Seattle with one win becomes CIT eligible.  Grand Canyon's already there.  Whether this conference actually deserves another postseason team is a very good question.
